ooc;; a brief piece of Zentha's past.
You can do this. You can do this. A sharp bark escaped his muzzle, echoing in the den loudly. His breathing heightened, becoming heavier by the second. Relax. Deep breathes Zentha, your plan will work. His eyelids closed over his anxious black orbs, trying to remake the plan in his head. It was simple, and soon enough it would be over. There wouldn't be any more holding him back from his destiny. This is how it had to happen; there was just no other way around it. Or that's what Zentha had convinced himself of anyways.
Finally the sound of large paws hitting the ground reached his ears. They swiveled, pointing in the direction of the faint sound. The familiar smell of his father filled his nostrils and he prepared himself for what was to come, if it all worked out perfectly. Just like he had planned, his mother was hopefully a few miles away getting them a snack. It would be impossible to take them both at the same time. Zentha wasn't the smartest person ever, but he surely wasn't that stupid.
"Zentha, what's wrong? You called."
The large wolf entered the den, his fur on end, his tail frozen in place, worry and concern in his eyes. He was always like this now. Why couldn't Kain just be calm and relaxed like he used to? Ever since he had blurted out the story of their past he was always tense, fidgeting and worrying that at any moment Zentha would explode. Of course Zentha's temper got the best of him at times, but he could be controlled. If he tried hard enough that is.
"Nothing, Kain."
The dark-furred wolf winced, his eyes flooding with pain and depression at the sound of his name. The first time he had called his father Kain, his dad had questioned him as to why he still didn’t say father. Zentha had simply shrugged, finding it useless after what he had concluded in his mind. The same had gone with his mother. It was the day after he heard the story, suddenly his parents just didn't seem the same in his eyes. It's like the whole world around him had miraculously changed in a matter of minutes.
"But, I did have a question."
"W-what is it son?"
Kain stuttered for a moment before making his voice even again. He seemed shaky, nervous as to what this question might be. Zentha just smiled, his sharp-edged fangs revealing at his father's state.
"Skyla. Why don't we rule that pack? Why aren't you and Bailey alpha's?"
Maybe the correct question would have been, why wasn't he ruling Skyla as well. After all it was his dream. It had been ever since his father spoke the name of the pack. But all of that didn't matter till he got his first priorities done. He couldn't rush such a serous situation. It took a few seconds for his father to reply, as the wolf had just sat there looking even more nervous. This wasn't the first time Zentha had questioned him like this.
"It doesn't work that way, Zentha. Just because of our history-"
He could feel it now, at his father's horrible reply. Blood was boiling beneath his flesh, his eyes narrowing to glare at his dad with hatred. This wasn't the answer he was looking for. A growl split from the back of his throat, cutting Kain off mid-sentence. It wasn’t fair. Because of their past they should have that pack to themselves. But no, they were just pitiful loners. It was a disgusting thought. That...Oh what was his name...Kovu? Was ruling his pack. The pack that was meant and destined for Zentha. His father was now further back; he had taken a few steps away at the response.
"I want to rule that pack, Kain. I want it."
He snarled, stalking towards his father, each step left marks in the ground from his now revealed claws. His angered black eyes watched every muscle in his dad's body tense up, eyes flooding with horror. And at the moment, he found love. The feeling of dominance spiraling threw his body, knowing that he could control his father however he wished. Fear. It was suddenly the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen in his life. No words could describe the rush that his dad's apprehension brought to him. It was pure delight and bliss. No, it was more than that. Much more.
"What's wrong, father? You look a little...scared. Please don't tell me you didn’t see this coming. It's obvious there’s no other way."
Before Kain could reply, Zentha was in the air, leaping at his dad. His claws were in Kain's flesh, blood staining his white fur as he pushed in farther. A yelp escaped the body held in his clutches. Zentha bit down, his fangs digging in as the taste of copper filled him. But he was hurled off, his face hitting the wall. The only thing that really hurt though was his nose. It remained the same, but it was definitely damaged. The only thing he could smell was a very faint stench of blood. Zentha was too busy racing back to his target to notice. And it was an easy kill. His father barely fought back.
Surprisingly, there was no remorse. None at all. The dead body lay limp in Zentha's paws as he took his teeth out of him. They were blood stained, but the taste of crimson didn't bother him at all. What did was the sound of footsteps, racing towards here. Dammit. She caught the scent of blood. It was no wonder that as soon as Bailey smelled blood she'd be racing towards her den. Worried that her pup was hurt. Though Zentha had no idea that Bailey was really worried of her mate, Kain. But there was no helping him. There was nothing that could bring back Kain now.
"Kain?"
The brown and white wolf stood there, her muzzle open; eyes filled with shock. She glanced back and forth from the dead body of her mate and towards the bloody and chuckling Zentha. And in that second she was on the ground, whimpers breaking the dreaded silence. She was so upset and shocked at finding Kain in that state that it was much easier. She was dead in a mere minute. But these memories would be gone soon. Replaced by others of bloodshed. If others didn't obey to his wishes, than they would receive the same fate. Nothing could get in his way now.
