The frothy sea water lapped gently at the ocean shore one bright and gentle morning. It was just after a night of a terrible storm, one that turned the gentle sea into a raging tempest. And yet, this morning, none could tell that the waters had been minorly upset, much less raging...
And yet as one would scan the beach a small, white, ball of fur may catch their attention. For there, laying with the gentle waves lapping and pulling lightly at her bedraggled fur, was a tiny wolf pup, looking to be hardly 7 months old. She was unmoving, and yet, if you looked close enough, you could see the gentle rise and fall that told of the life that still resided in her.
It had been quite a night for the little one... Family taken from her... Her safe place brutally invaded by the sea... Her tiny form tossed and turned, and yet still kept alive in the angry ocean... And now, here she found herself... Weak and still, yet alive, laying upon the wet sand, warmth flooding her fur from the sun, only to be cooled by the water that gently pooled around her tiny frame.
What would become of this little one? She was too weak to move, much less move any distance by herself... And what if something found her? Would it be a friend? Or a foe... Would it wish to make her a meal? Or, by an off chance, would she find a sanctuary... It all depended on those who already inhabited the lands she now lay upon, and if one found her in time.

Walking along the waters edge, her paws splashing in the soft, rolling Sea shore. apart from the odd branch that had been flung around in the wind, their was no evidence of the strom that had raged during the night. The skies were calm, and it looked just like any other day.
It was a pity the same couldn't be said about the burnouts. The place was a total wreck now. The strorm last night was worse than any the Island had had for a long time, but fortunatly, Kishi had seen it coming, and she and the pups had taken shelter in the cave not far from here. The Alphess had not heard from her newest member, Atia, and could only hope that she was Ok.
Walking through the Shallows, her paws now soaked, Kishi kept her eyes on the larger Island that Kongrai was just off the coast of. Their had been rumours that humans had been spotted, and heard here, but she wanted to see this for herself before getting her small pack into a panick. Once she was sure that she would not see anything today, she began to speed her pace a little.
Afetr a bit of walking, something along the water lines caught her eye. Their was a small lump of white fur lying on the sand. The Fae cocked her head to the side for a minute, trying to work out what it was. As the wind changed course, and blew gentaly towards her, it was full of new scent. The lump was a wolf. A small wolf. A pup. She padded cautiously towards it, and stopped a couple of meters away.
Was the pup dead? It looked young, but old enough to have most of its adult fur through. Deciding that it wasn't of any harm - its was just a pup afterall - she padded closer to it, stopping when she directly next to the pup, and nudged the white furred lump gently with her nose. The small Fae was still alive, still breathing atleast, which was lucky. If she had been out in that storm, which it looked like she had, the pup was very lucky to still be alive.

Kari lay absolutely still there in the shallows, the water continuing to lap gently at her soaked form. She was used to the movement of the water by now and it no longer bothered her. She would just set herself to resting, trying to gather what little strength she had left. She knew that eventually she would have to get out of the water... The sea never lay in the same place for long.
The pup was unmoving it seemed, except for the rising and falling of her tiny chest... This movement was, however, joined by the twitching of her tiny black nose as she took in the scents around her. There were no brand new scents around here and absolutely nothing familiar... Where was she... By now her mind was free to start to think about her situation. She was definately not back home... And yet at this point she was thankful simply to be alive.
Before too long a scent wafted over her... This scent was new and held authority to it. This confused her, but she remained still. It was almost as if she had forgotten how to control the muscles she possessed. She lay still until she couldn't smell the fae anymore. But at that point she felt a light nudge to the side of her drenched form. At the nudge, she let out a soft and rather pitiful whine. Indeed the pup was quite vulnerable having survived quite the ordeal the night before... It was just a wonderful thing that she was found by one who didn't wish to gut her on sight... So it seemed.

Her ears pricked up to the sounds that surrounded the two wolves. As she nudged the ball of fluff that was a pup, she heard it let out a little wimper. Just the sound of this vulnerable noise changed her mind completely. The pup couldn't stay here, in the fast rising waters of the Sea, she would surely drown. And Kishi's plan to just sit by untill she woke up were demolished.
She nudged the pup again gently, just to let her know that she had no intention to hurt her, before picking the bundle of white fur by the scruff of her neck in her jaws, being careful to not bite too hard, and carried her away from the sae, towards a clear spot, that was warmer and more sheltered.
She put the pup softly on the dry sand, and sat, waiting for her to respond. Never before had a pup, that wasn't the young of a pack member, ventured into the lands alone. Could the sudden rise in loner pups be due to the humans and their guns? She had heard that the Skyla had just taken in two auphened pups. She scowled slightly. Those Skyla pups would no doubt be bought up to fight, not live life as they should, although, Senna had proven not to be the nasty, bloodthirsty wolf others say she was. The Skyla alphess had helped Kishi out manytimes when she was in danger.
The Fae sat next to the small pup, trying to work out how old she was. She was smaller that her own pups, who were now actively hunting, and were able to travel about by themselves, and were very close to choosing their paths. She looked around 6 - 7 months old? Old enough to not be to mcuh trouble, as long as she wasn't too adventurous. Ah, what did it matter. Kishi knew she would give the pup a home if she wanted it, no matter how naughty, or stubborn she was.
The Fae nudged the pup with her cold nose, under the small wolfs chin, trying to wake her up. If she stayed asleep, or still, which ever one she was, then she would freeze to death, she needed to move about, get herself warmed up. It wasn't hard to guess that she had been in the Sea during the storm, and it was a mirachle she was alive.

Karisana's ears twitched just slightly as she felt the second nudge from the wolfess. It confused her... What was she doing? And yet it wasn't long before she felt the gentle touch of teeth at the back of her neck, pulling at the scruff as she picked the small pup up. Kari would tuck her legs up under her in instinct as she remembered being carried like this by her mother and father quite often. It was true, she often had to be carried back to the den after one of her exciting escapades.
She soon found that she was lifted from the water and wet sand that matted her soft white fur and shivered slightly at the breeze that swept through the area. She tucked her tail up under her, pulling her legs in tighter. It indeed seemed there was some consciousness in the pup afterall.
It was not long before she felt herself set gently on the shore where the sand was dry and warm and she set to awakening her mind more. She was safe and now drying and the one beside her didn't seem intent on harming her at all, so playing 'possom wasn't needed one bit. She slowly batted her eyes open, squinting in the brightness of the day, but revealing those pretty soft blue eyes as she met the gaze of the wolfess before her.
Now it was true... Kari could be quite a handfull at times... But naughty and stubborn never were traits she was known for. And it was, indeed, true... Humans were likely the cause for the rise in orphaned pups here... They certainly were the cause in her story... Which she would likely tell Kishi should she wish to know.
She felt the soft nudge of the cold nose under her petite chin and whimpered in protest as her eyes fluttered open. She moved a bit, churning her paws just a little against the sand before pushing herself up, unsteadily to them and fixing the wolfess before her with a confused stare. "Where am I..." She asked, blinking a few times, very much disoriented.

Kishi sat on the warm sand, gazing out into the wide open ocean. She wasn't daydreaming, just ... not connected with the physical world at the current moment in time. Her mind was wandering round the seperate Island, searching for those rumours that told her the two legged ones were back.
A quiet wimper bought her back onto this Island, and she switched her gaze to the pup. The small Fae was waking up, her tiny eyes blinking open slowly. 'Where am i...' Kishi grinned down at the small she-wolf, she was confused, Kishi could tell that much atleast, and didn't seem to have any idea where she was. "Your on Kongrai ... its a small Island just off the coast of the mainlands." She told her warmly. "I'm Kishi by the way, and you are ... ?" She asked, keeping her voice quiet, as to not scare the pup with a sudden avalanche of noise. (( Ergh, completely out of muse, sorry ))

The young pup swayed slightly upon her paws, but somehow kept the ground under her. The poor thing was waterlogged and exhausted... But what would one expect from the ordeal that she had endured? She shook her fur a little bit, but in this action managed to fall over to the side upon her rump. She growled a little, but not at Kishi, more at her off balance for the time, thought it was quite a cute thing to see.
She perked her ears up as she heard Kishi's words, and her head would dip slightly as she glanced off into the distance. She could see the Mainlands off in the distance. Goodness the storm must have really turned her around. She whimpered softly and shook her head. "I-I needed to stay in the cave... The stupid waters! They came in farther than ever and pulled me out..." She growled slightly again for a moment as she seemed to be half talking to herself. "What if mommy and daddy come looking for me..."
Kishi hadn't been the only one not totally here at the moment. But the young pup soon snapped right back to reality as she heard Kishi give her name and then ask for her own in return. She looked up to her and her tail waved a bit. "I'm Karisana! But most just called me Kari." She nodded a bit as she gave the fond nickname she had along with her full name. She dipped her head slightly, her gentle nature taking over at the moment. "Nice to meet you..." It seemed she was in this wolf's home now... And yet her gaze remained out on the mainland where her parents may or may not be...
(Meep I'm sorry! Should I bulk up my posts a bit?)

Kishi smiled down at the pup as she spoke. Her voice was so small, like that of her own pups. Her ear twitched as the little wolf let out a small growl, but she didn't seem to be growling at her, it was more like she was growling at herself. Kishi cocked her head to the side as she watched her, and the listened to her speek.
'I-I needed to stay in the cave... The stupid waters! They came in farther than ever and pulled me out...' The Alphess looked out over the Sea. If she hadn't have seen the waters for herself, then she wouldn't have beleived that they had been rough. It looked so calm out there!
'What if mommy and daddy come looking for me...' A pang of pity for the young wolf went through her body, and she had the biggest earge to just bend down and cuddle her. It was doubtful she would see her parents ever again. As she frantically tried to think of something to say to change the subject, she didn't notice the pups sad look all of a sudden change to exitment.
'I'm Karisana! But most just called me Kari. Nice to meet you ...' Kishi smiled down to her. "Nice to meet you too, welcome to the Island." She said with a grin. It didn't take her long to realise that the pups gaze was elsewhere, she was staring out onto the mainlands. It wasn't good for her to stare out like that, it would only get her hopes up, and she didn't want that to happen. "You look tired, do you want to sleep? I know of a cave not far from here, its warm, and sheltered?" She asked warmly, standing up to begin walking.
It as then a loud bang rang out over on the mainlands. Her ears perked up at the sound of it, and she sent a worried look over to the Island. They realy should move.

She continued to gaze out over the waters for a time. She wondered if her mommy and daddy were still out there somewhere... And her brothers too. Were they still on the Mainland and now looking for her? A soft whimper came from her as she thought about that. There seemed to be no way to get back to them, considering she was not about to jump back into those waters, not willingly anyway. But she did wonder what that strange smell she smelled at her family's den had been...
She didn't have a whole lot of time to think about this before Kishi's words rang gently in her ears. She looked up to the older wolfess. It was true, it didn't take a whole lot to get the pup's mind off of what was going on, and yet it would likely quickly return to that. But for now she listened to her question, and at first started to shake her head, and yet as if her body was arguing with her, a long yawn pulled itself from her small muzzle. She dipped her head looking slightly sheepish. "Well... I guess I could sleep for a little while... If that's ok..." She didn't want to be a bother or a burden on this kind wolfess, of whom her trust was already placed. But finding a safe place to rest sounded nice after the night before.
She would pad after Kishi, waving her tail a bit for a moment. She tilted her head a little as they moved side by side. Of course, her mind had drifted back to her parents. Her tail slipped down a bit lower, before she spoke softly to her. "Kishi... Do you know of any... Bad things going on with wolves?" She fought to try to put her confused feelings to words. "B-Before I ran to my family's safe place... I smelled a strange smell in my den..." She shook her head a little looking somewhat miserable. "I have no idea what it was but it smelled horrible!"
Suddenly a loud bang sounded from over on the mainland, causing the pup to drop into a surprised crouch as she looked around wide eyed and fearful. "What was that?" Confusion overtook her, that had been so loud and come from across the stretch of ocean from her home! She trembled slightly. As far as she knew, her parents and brothers were still over there. Whatever was over there could hurt them... And yet she couldn't get back over to save them! She shook her head a little and looked back up to Kishi, uncertainty written all over her small puppish face.

'Well... I guess I could sleep for a little while... If that's ok...' A warm smile was placed upon Kishis maw at the little Faes words. She seemed so eager to not get in the way, to not be a nuisance. This was adorable. "Its fine, follow me." She said with a grin. Oh how that little wolf looked tired, and it wasn't a surprise, if she had just been chucked about in the waters at the eye of the storm.
As they walked, Kishi cast small glances back at the little pup, making sure she wasn't walking to fast, and making it hard for Kari to keep up. She seemed happy enough, with her wagging tail.
'Kishi... Do you know of any... Bad things going on with wolves...? B-Before I ran to my family's safe place... I smelled a strange smell in my den...' The Alphess winced at these words. How could a small pup know about the rumours if they were not true, because if they were just simply rumours, then the mother would have kept it away from her, to not cause any fear. But Kishi decided to tell it straight. If Kari decided to make her own way around the Island, then she would need to know about it, not that Kishi had any intentions on letting the pup go on her won, not in the state she was in at the moment. "Their are some ... rumours ... going around the Island, that a new threat, well not new, but a threat that was here years ago, has returned." She said, before adding, "but its nothing we can't handle here, so don't worry yourself." to keep her calm.
The loud bang rang through the trees, echoing and bouncing off of everything it hit. 'What was that?!' Kishi could hear the fear in the pups voice. "nothing to worry about, we can handle it if it gets closer." She said, quickening her pace slightly. She wasn't sure who 'we' was, because their was only two members fo the Xyla at the moment, and two agains the humans was certain death, but she didn't want to worry the pup.
(( don't worry, your posts are fine ^.^ ))

Kari perked her ears up as she listened to the older she-wolf. Her tail waved a bit in a somewhat tired fashion. Indeed the little one was quite weary after her interesting night. She was quite happy when she heard the Alphess speak of it being fine for her to rest, and was imediately grateful and thankful she had found her. She felt the happiness coming off of the wolfess and returned her grin with a grin of her own. Her padding paws kept up alright with Kishi's, her tail waving a bit still showing her contentment and happiness at the thought of having a place to rest.
She perked her ears up as she looked to Kishi, hearing her begin to explain about the threat that had seemed to return to the wolves after a time. She whimpered softly and nodded slightly, brows furrowing a little bit. That threat must have been what had attacked her family. Once again wonderings wandered around the pup's mind as she replied simply with "Oh." She nodded again as she continued after Kishi. She heard her say that they could handle that threat here... Perhaps they had a pack that was bigger than that of her birth one...
And yet the bang that echoed off the trees caused the little one to stop in her tracks in terror. She vaguely remembered such a sound the night she caught that weird smell and found herself taken here... She flicked her ears forward and looked back to Kishi, but once again heard her words of comfort and nodded slightly. She was too tired to think about it too much anyway, and her pace would quicken just a bit to keep pace with Kishi. They could take care of it... They were prepared for such a threat... Things would be just fine. She kept telling herself this, and yet no matter how many times she said it, she couldn't quite make herself believe it.

Padding quietly through the now dense trees, Kari trotting silently behind her, Kishis thoughts once again drifted off to how she was going to make her pack stronger. It was urgent now, the need for more members, if the Xyla were going to survive, and not die out. If the two legged ones did come here, and the pack still only had two members, with the possibilty of Kari deciding to stay, and maybe some of her pups, the the pack would be incredibly easy to wipe out. So they realy did need more members! To protect the lands, the younger members, and eachother.
That settled it, after she had got Kari to a safe sleeping place, then she would go out onto the unclaimable lands and find possible members. Little did she know that it was there she would meet Dakota and sukie. Another sudden bang, a lot louder than the last, rang out over the Island. The soft sound of Karisanas padding came to a hault, telling Kishi that she had stopped, and so the Fae slowed down, waiting for her to start walking again.
It didn't take long for the to reach the place of the cave, and so Kishi lead the up towards it, but instead of taking her inside, she placed her round the back of it. "Stay here for a minute, i will be right back." she told her gently, before padding silently into the cave to check for any dangers.
The dark cave went on for quite a while, and it was larger inside then wolves would imagine. It was also quite warm in here, but shaded. The only problem with it was the humidity. If, sometimes, it got too hot, then it would become horribly humid, and hard to breath. But thanksfully, it wasn't like that today.

Kari would pad right along after Kishi, staying right on her tail. She didn't know these lands... And at the moment the only one she trusted was the wolfess right in front of her. The young one remained absolutely silent feeling that Kishi needed quiet as she seemed to be deep in thought. Karisana wondered what could be bothering the she-wolf... If her pack could take care of themselves, why was she worried? But she shook that off, trembling only slightly at the idea that all wasn't quite as good as Kishi made it out to be. But then again that would cement the thought in the young pup's mind... If this treat was bad... Then it wasn't likely she would find her mom and dad again... Though this made her whimper, it also made her determined to stay with this pack and help them as much as she could against the threat.
It was not long before the sight of a cave broke into her thoughts and her tail waved sleepily and she debated on bounding inside. And yet Kishi kept leading her around the back of it instead of inside it's welcoming entrance. She nodded slightly, somewhat dissapointed, but she would drop her rump lightly to the ground to await the ok from Kishi. She trusted this wolfess, so she very much trusted her judgement... But her ears remained pricked to listen for any danger to her. Yes... Already the young pup seemed to attatch herself to this older wolfess. She really hoped she wouldn't mind...
She listened intently as Kishi moved around to the front of the cave and in, to check it out. The pup soon stood to her paws and tensed her muscles, ready to spring at any sign of danger from Kishi. Now if that was to spring toward or away from said danger was left to be seen.

Padding cautiously into the opening, ears alert for any sound that told her something had made its home in her cave, and eyes switching quickly to any slight movement. She froze at a shifting of movement up above, and took a sniff at the air, trying to catch any scents. Her body relaxed again. Nothing was here, unless you count the small bugs that were roaming around in the darkness.
She smiled to herself, and walked back out to find Kari. But yet again, her body tensed up, but this time, their was a real problem. Another wolf had joined their company. It was stood near the shore line, looking to be examining the place. A soft growl escaped her maw as she padded over to Kari, still keeping her eyes on the stranger, it didn't seem to know they were there yet, and Kishi intended to keep it that way. The Fae couldn't see the wolf properly, couldn't tell whether it was a male or female, couldn't tell if they looked dangerous or not, but that was the problem. Wolves were most dangerous if they took you by surprise.
She lifted Kari up, carrying her in her jaws, and padded quietly into the cave, trying not to let the stranger see them. Kishi then placed the pup near the side, in the shadows, without saying anything, and settled down near the entrance, just far enough into the darkness for no one to be able to see her, and watched the stranger intently. If he or she came to close, and looked to be a threat, then she would attack, or at least threaten, anything to get them of her lands.
Her eyes followed the wolfs every move, only shifting when something else caught her attension, which wasn't often. At the moment the wanderer was just .. well ... wandering. Walking around, looking as though they did not know what they were doing. Lets just hope it stays that way.
(( Sorry for the late reply, and their is a new open spot for anyone that wishes to join (: ))

(Not a problem at all. Kari looked around her intently as she watched for worries outside the cave, as well as glancing toward where Kishi went just in case sounds of distress rose from the wolfess. Well Kari tried to remain villigent anyway... She felt her eyelids growing heavy and drooping a bit as her body reminded her again and again that she needed some rest. She growled slightly at it. She knew that! But she needed to make certain that Kishi was doing alright. Well she continued to glance around her wearily, though it looked more lost than anything. It was not long before Kishi came back out to find her. She was exactly where the she-wolf had left her, and waved her tail happily to see the she-wolf's approach. She stood to her paws and moved to nose her shoulder ever so gently, making sure she was alright. Indeed such a gentle, caring spirit in this one, among the hyper puppishness that Kishi would see soon enough. She said no words as she was picked up, however she would tense as she felt Kishi tense, and look around in confusion, soon fixing the new wolf with her gaze. She tilted her head a little. Her first instinct was to run over and greet the other wolf... Though that didn't seem to be Kishi's plan... And this was Kishi's home afterall... Plus the pup was hanging from the she-wolf's jaws, so she didn't have much of a choice in that matter right then. Well she would remain where she was, and merely watch as Kishi made her way back slyly into the cave, setting her down and then settling down herself. Karisana would imediately drop like a stone as soon as she was set down, her slender head dropping upon her paws, eyelids drooping as she felt the darkness creep into her senses, ready to draw her into a well needed rest. She fought it, as she remembered the wolf she saw, but before long, sleep would overtake the small pup in this new safe place.
